Article - Biometrics: Effective But Smaller

In this article from Martin Huddart, General Manager at IR Recognition Systems, IR Security & Safety Americas. Mr Huddart outlines just how easy it is to incorporate biomentrics in to your building's security solution.

"Whenever there is a need to achieve specific control of who accesses an area or building, look at the advantages biometrics can add. Even in new or existing applications where they normally wouldn’t be considered, they can be easier to add than you might think."

We are pleased to make this excellent article available on our web site now. Click here to view and download it.

Colorado Doorways Featured Project, July 2006 - the Regency, Auraria's Student Housing Community

Colorado Springs Utilities Environmental Services LabStudents attending school at the Auraria Campus near downtown Denver now have reason to celebrate. Close and affordable housing is on its way thanks to the renovation of the old Regency Hotel, an Interstate 25 landmark.

The hotel is being converted into a student-housing facility in a very short period of time on a limited budget. Design and construction documents were completed in only seven weeks and a building permit in just three! The team worked closely with city officials as the facility had recently been forced shut because of code violations. An extensive code and life-safety upgrade of the facility was performed. With cost being a major controlling factor, creative solutions were used throughout including reusing as much material as possible.

Colorado Doorways was the obvious choice for this time and cost senstitive project and we are proud to be a part of this project to offer new housing opportunities to higher education students in the area.

SARGENT Profile Series v.N1 Lock Wins Security Industry Association's (SIA) Product Achievement Award

Pemko aluminum hingesThe SARGENT Profile Series v.N1 lock won the Security Industry Association's (SIA) Product Achievement Award for Access Control Thursday, April 6, at the ISC West convention in Las Vegas. The v.N1 was one of 94 products vying for an award in SIA's 2006 New Product Showcase (NPS) program. The NPS was established more than a decade ago to identify and showcase innovation in electronic security products and services. Eighteen judges representing various segments of the industry viewed a daylong series of presentations by the product manufacturers. The v.N1 presentation was delivered by Tom Mayer, SARGENT's Manager of Brand Promotions, and Chris Flaherty, Sr. Project Electromechanical Engineer.

The v.N1 is the latest addition to the SARGENT Profile Series line of access control products. The lockset integrates into existing open architecture Wiegand access control systems, giving end users the ability to easily expand their system with a simple panel interface board and no additional software. The deadbolt, latchbolt, request to exit and door position switches are internally mounted, a design that conceals and protects the switches. The internally mounted switches require less wiring and less hardware to specify and install, creating an opening that is more secure.

The v.N1 is available on SARGENT’s 8200 Series mortise lock, 10 Line cylindrical lock and 80 Series exit device.

For more details about about the new v.N1, you can view the press release, visit the Sargent website and then contact the experts at Colorado Doorways to learn more.
