Colorado Doorways Featured Project, September 2006 - CSU Academic Village

CSU Academic Village The Academic Village, a $42 million project at Colorado State Univerisity, slated to open in Fall 2007, is under construction on the site of the former Ellis Hall, which was demolished in May 2005.

The Academic Village is a state-of-the-art living learning environment that will integrate classroom and experiential learning into the living area with programming space, seminar and meeting rooms, multi-media classrooms, living space for faculty members, and more.

The Academic Village will also include a large commons building. The commons building will house central mail and community space as well as dining facilities that include a grab-and-go venue and a large dining center with seating for 700 that may feature a Mongolian grille, a sports grille, a sizzling salads station, a carvery, and other venues including a bakery and centralized cold production. An outdoor plaza area will provide a gathering space for students with outdoor seating as well as walkways to the rest of campus.

The Academic Village design team is committed to building a sustainable construction project that will establish Colorado State University as a leader in environmentally responsible education and design initiatives. The construction project will undertake actions that positively influence resource awareness, sustainability, and decreased resource utilization as a model for future campus construction. The Academic Village will be the first housing unit of its kind on campus and will incorporate several innovative ideas.

Features of the Academic Village:

  • Housing for 420 students in an Engineering Living Learning Community and Honors Living Learning Community
  • Hotel-style rooms with private bathrooms in each suite
  • Programming space, seminar and meeting rooms, multi-media classrooms, living space for residence faculty members, and a community areas
  • Commons building that will include a large dining center
  • A plaza area that will feature outdoor seating, a wind catcher, and walkway to other parts of campus
  • Sustainable design features that may include light shelves, a living roof design, compost garden, wind power, and low-flow water fixtures.

ASSA Announces New Twin Pro Lock System

ASSA Announces New Twin Pro Lock SystemThis is the latest high security key control system released by ASSA High Security Locks. They call it their "Threat Con Delta" system. Because it carries the highest level of security, ASSA will only ship the product from the factory directly to the end-user.

This product will not be stocked at traditional distributors eliminating the possibility of the system being compromised. ASSA will train facilities to service these locks in house or they can use one of an ASSA certified Service Center like Colorado Doorways.

Electronic key and cylinder compatibility: This product is set up to interface with the new Twin IQ system. You can add an audit control key and cylinder anywhere in your master key system to give you the latest in accountability of the use of that lock. The audit trail will give you the date and time the electronic key was used. This key will also operate as a mechanical key to open other locks that are not electric.

The Twin Pro system is the most sophisticated key system being offered in the world market today. Worldwide keyways can be obtained through written agreement with ASSA for guaranteed exclusivity of the keyway. This product is patented to give you the most protection in key and cylinder control.
