Project NewsColorado Doorways Featured Project, September 2006 - CSU Academic Village The Academic Village is a state-of-the-art living learning environment that will integrate classroom and experiential learning into the living area with programming space, seminar and meeting rooms, multi-media classrooms, living space for faculty members, and more. The Academic Village will also include a large commons building. The commons building will house central mail and community space as well as dining facilities that include a grab-and-go venue and a large dining center with seating for 700 that may feature a Mongolian grille, a sports grille, a sizzling salads station, a carvery, and other venues including a bakery and centralized cold production. An outdoor plaza area will provide a gathering space for students with outdoor seating as well as walkways to the rest of campus. The Academic Village design team is committed to building a sustainable construction project that will establish Colorado State University as a leader in environmentally responsible education and design initiatives. The construction project will undertake actions that positively influence resource awareness, sustainability, and decreased resource utilization as a model for future campus construction.
