Colorado Doorways Featured Project, October 2006 - Denver Newspaper Agency

Denver Newspaper Agency The newsroom fills the sixth floor of the new 11-story, 318,400-square- foot building overlooking Civic Center, city hall and the state Capitol. MediaNews Group, owner of The Denver Post, will occupy the 11th floor, and the Denver Newspaper Agency (DNA) will fill floors seven through 10. The Rocky Mountain News is housed on the fifth floor.

Built by Hensel Phelps Construction Co., it includes 7,877 square feet of ground-floor retail space and 667 parking spots on five levels. Construction took 22 months, cost $88 million and was completed in July.

Highlights of the building include:

  • An electronic news ticker on the Broadway side of the building.
  • A 231-seat auditorium, available for public use. It anchors the ground floor, is equipped with large-screen projectors, advanced sound mixers and wireless networking and is wired for TV cameras. The lobby is designed as a public gathering place.
  • Wireless Internet service throughout the building and on the plaza outside the building that can be used by the public. The network is separate from the newspaper's hard-wire system.
  • Two balconies on the sixth floor that provide views from the statehouse to city hall. There are more big-screen TVs in the new space than in the old newsroom, and the phone system uses Voice over Internet Protocol technology.
  • A 10th-floor lunchroom and yoga room with outdoor deck, a fitness center with locker rooms, and three ground-floor retail sites. Starbucks is under construction on the ground floor, and deals are in the works to lease space to Heidi's Brooklyn Deli and the Bulldog Pub.

Naturally Colorado Doorways was the distributor of choice for the doors and artchitectural hardware for this important downtown project. We are please to have continued our work with Hensel Phelps on this project.

ASSA Announces New Twin Pro Lock System

Pemko aluminum hingesThis is the latest high security key control system released by ASSA High Security Locks. They call it their "Threat Con Delta" system. Because it carries the highest level of security, ASSA will only ship the product from the factory directly to the end-user.

This product will not be stocked at traditional distributors eliminating the possibility of the system being compromised. ASSA will train facilities to service these locks in house or they can use one of an ASSA certified Service Center like Colorado Doorways.

Electronic key and cylinder compatibility: This product is set up to interface with the new Twin IQ system. You can add an audit control key and cylinder anywhere in your master key system to give you the latest in accountability of the use of that lock. The audit trail will give you the date and time the electronic key was used. This key will also operate as a mechanical key to open other locks that are not electric.

The Twin Pro system is the most sophisticated key system being offered in the world market today. Worldwide keyways can be obtained through written agreement with ASSA for guaranteed exclusivity of the keyway. This product is patented to give you the most protection in key and cylinder control.

For more details about about the new Twin Pro Lock, you can get more information on ASSA's website and then contact the experts at Colorado Doorways to learn more.
