Colorado Doorways Receives Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Certification
Company is first door distributor in Colorado to meet rigorous requirements

Forest Stewardship CouncilScientific Certification Systems (SCS) in accordance with the rules of the Forest Stewardship Council A.C. (FSC) has granted Colorado Doorways the FSC Chain of Custody Certification.  This means that customers can be sure that specified products sold by Colorado Doorways are traceable to responsibly managed forests, and that there are documented controls in place to make sure that the integrity of the environment is upheld. By achieving this milestone and being the first door distributor in the states of Colorado and Wyoming to meet the program’s rigorous requirements, Colorado Doorways continues to remain at the forefront of the door and hardware industry.

The FSC Chain of Custody Certification means that Colorado Doorways meets the strict tracking requirements for ensuring that products the company sells as FSC-certified come from a well-managed forest.  Among other things, well-managed forests:

  • Prohibit conversion of forests or any other natural habitat
  • Respect of international workers rights
  • Prohibition of use of hazardous chemicals
  • Respect of Human Rights with particular attention to indigenous peoples
  • Identification and appropriate management of areas that need special protection (e.g. cultural or sacred sites, habitat of endangered animals or plants)

This certification will be appreciated by architects and contractors who specify green building products for environmentally-conscientious building owners.  Chain of custody certification provides a guarantee about the production of FSC-certified products and certifies the path taken by raw materials from the forest to the consumer, including all successive stages of processing, transformation, manufacturing and distribution. Being FSC certified shows Colorado Doorways’ commitment to the environment and to the world in which we live and shows that we comply with the highest social and environmental standards on the market.

Project News

Colorado Doorways Featured Project, June 2009 - St. Thomas More Church

St. Thomas More ChurchCombining 45,000 square feet of renovated space and 20,000 feet of new construction, St. Thomas More Church is the largest Catholic church in the Archdiocese of Denver. Its expansion was needed to support a growing congregation and student body while adhering to a strict six month construction timeline.

New and renovated features of the facility include a redesigned sancturary, relocated and expanded restrooms and elevators, a renovated youth center, a new adoration chapel, gift shop and library and a copper-adorned bell tower. In addition to the timeline constraints, construction had to be completed while the church and its K-8 school remained open seven days a week.

These requirements mandated a door and hardware supplier that could be flexible and senstitive to the needs of the owner. Colorado Doorways was the logical choice to supply the doors, frames and hardware for this project and we are proud to have been a part of it.
